Prohibited Behavior and Inappropriate Content

[01] Posting, usernames or private messages which are defamatory, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, sexually oriented, threatening, or invasive of a person's privacy or that violate any law of the United States.
[02] Flaming, bashing, personal insults, or threatening of any individual or group.
[03] Sexually suggestive pictures or text not suitable for age 14 and above
[04] Using "1337" text, binary or any other method of reproducing inappropriate content or avoiding language filters.
[05] Posting using obscene or `off color` language. If you think a word may be questionable, use a different word.
[06] Linking to content in violation of the TOS.
[07] Editing or altering any text left by Forum Staff in your post.
[08] Posting advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, commercial solicitation.
[09] Posting copyrighted material without permission.**
[10] Posting or reopening of locked topics. If a topic has been locked, do not create another topic. Any questions about a locked topic should be directed to a Moderator or Admin via private message.
[11] "Bumping" of any topics. If you do not have something to add to the discussion, you should not post. Small, generic or empty content, simply to increase your post count or the post count of the thread may not be posted.
[12] Posting content intended to take advantage of forum or server bugs or exploits.
[13] Rants, or posts, the purpose of which is merely to complain about a server admin, moderator or fellow poster.
[14] "Trolling" or posting content designed to inflame, incite or that has no purpose at all.
[15] Evading or attempts to evade warnings, bans, or other administrative actions.
[16] Attempts to reveal the identity of another member who has chosen to remain anonymous. The BYF2 allows anonymous participation and members should respect this privacy.

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list. Content may still be deemed inappropriate even if it does not specifically fall under one of these rules.

Locks
Locks will be placed upon posts for a number of reasons: violation of the TOS, off-topic discussion, or argumentative or disruptive behavior in the thread. Threads may be unlocked after a cooling-off period (usually two or three days), if they were locked for argumentative behavior. The Forum Moderator may note the reason for the lock in the final post; however, this is not required.

Moved Posts
Posts may be moved for a number of reasons, but primarily, it is because they were posted in the wrong forum. If you can't find a post where it was originally posted, try looking in a more appropriate forum.

Private Messages
These are considered the equivalent of forum posts. The same rules regarding harassment, profanity, racism, cheats, pornography, etc. apply to private messages as they do for public posts. Private messages from Moderators are logged, so before you complain about Moderator harassment via private message, make sure you clearly understand what the Moderator was trying to tell you.

Punishment
Punishment will be the decision of the moderators. Much the way a police officer may choose to issue a warning rather than a ticket, you may be warned via private message or in public. Your post may be edited, deleted and/or the thread may be locked. Members may also be banned from the Backyard Fence 2 for egregious or repeated violation of these rules.

Put simply, when in doubt, remember the "Golden Rule": treat others with the same respect that you yourself wish to be treated. If you don't have anything nice to say, consider saying nothing at all.

If that phrase or one somewhat like it, is on the webpage you are going to copy something from, it would behoove you to link that page rather than abuse the law. You are allowed to take a snippet of the material for general interest but copying the entire subject is breaking the law.
